Recently, upon entering the production workshop of the Youjiang sub-park of the Baise Modern Forestry Industrial Park in Guangxi, one can see logs going through cutting, drying, gluing, laying, hot pressing, and other processes on intelligent production lines before finally becoming smooth and flat boards. Intelligent laser edge-banding machines run efficiently, while workers either watch display screens closely to calibrate parameters or operate forklifts to load and unload finished boards, quickly checking lists, packing, and shipping goods. The whole site is bustling with production activity.

Chen Chunyan, workshop supervisor of Aishangjia Furniture under Yecheng Group, said that their one-stop green home furnishing intelligent manufacturing base can produce rotary-cut boards and whole-home customized furniture, and that orders are now being shipped to other regions every day.

Accelerating chain strengthening and supplementation to reverse the pattern of large resources but a small industry

Baise has vast mountainous areas, with a forest coverage rate of 68.9. percent, 43.8. million mu of forest land, 172 million cubic meters of standing timber stock, and more than 100 million tons of carbon storage in forest vegetation. All three resource indicators rank first in Guangxi.

How can resource advantages be transformed into industrial advantages? During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Baise has based its development on local resource endowments, strengthened innovation-driven development, and accelerated the transformation and upgrading of the forestry industry. It is making every effort to build the second industrial cluster worth hundreds of billions of yuan after the new eco-friendly aluminum industry. Through measures such as strengthening the protection and utilization of forest resources, building a number of modern forestry industrial parks, introducing leading enterprises, and continuously extending, strengthening, and supplementing industrial chains, the city is building deep-processing industrial chains for timber products such as panel processing, furniture manufacturing, and smart home furnishing. As wood processing enterprises such as Freedom Kingdom settle in, the forestry industry is advancing toward mid-to-high-end green home furnishing.

Advancing park construction to build a new highland for industrial clusters

Vast forests nurture vigorous vitality and also contain endless business opportunities. Baise has scientifically planned its industrial spatial layout and systematically built a wood, bamboo, furniture, and home furnishing industrial system featuring two cores, three bases, and multiple supporting points. The two cores refer to the Youjiang Industrial Park and the Tianyang Industrial Park, which mainly focus on the manufacturing of terminal products such as customized home furnishing and smart home furnishing as well as supporting services. The three bases cover the three major industrial parks of Tianlin, Xilin, and Lingyun, focusing on the development of upstream and midstream products in the industrial chain. The Tiandong Industrial Park, Pingguo Economic and Technological Development Zone, and other county-level industrial gathering areas serve as multiple supporting points, undertaking the production of quality primary products and supporting products. This has formed a new industrial spatial pattern with clear positioning, tiered layout, and coordinated development.

At present, forestry industrial parks across the city have successfully introduced 126 forestry enterprises, of which 90 have been completed and put into operation, including 67 enterprises above designated size.

As a key park at the autonomous region level, the Youjiang sub-park of the Baise Modern Forestry Industrial Park relies on the resource endowment of Youjiang District, which has a forest coverage rate of 80.52 percent and 4.5. million mu of collective forest land, and has become the core engine driving the rise of the cluster.

Since the establishment of the park, Baise has regarded the improvement of the business environment as a strong lever for economic development. Through methods such as stationed investment attraction and business-based investment attraction, it has cultivated a forestry product deep-processing industrial cluster of a certain scale. Youjiang District has continuously improved its efficient service mechanisms for major projects and actively promoted the reform of starting construction immediately after land acquisition, creating a favorable environment for investors. Local parks provide one-to-one full-life-cycle services for enterprises, covering every link from project reserve and negotiation to signing, approval, commencement, construction, and production.

Strengthening investment attraction to support high-quality industrial development

Zhu Hezhi, general manager of Baise Aishangjia Furniture Co., Ltd. under Yecheng Group and the person responsible for investment attraction, said that the rich forestry resources, convenient water and land transportation, and favorable government policies have strengthened their confidence in investing. As a leading enterprise in the Youjiang sub-park, he is highly confident in the development of Baise's forestry industry.

As the first enterprise to begin production in the Youjiang sub-park, the company built and put its first production line into operation in 2022. It has now achieved an annual production capacity of 80,000 cubic meters of furniture boards and 80,000 sets of panel furniture, with products mainly sold to provinces such as Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan. In 2024, the enterprise achieved an output value of RMB 85 million and tax revenue of RMB 6. million, attracting nearly 250 local residents to find employment close to home.

Leading enterprises have driven coordination across the industrial chain. Yecheng Group has guided nearly 300 small wood processing plants in Youjiang District to enter the park. Through unified management and standardized production, it has promoted the transformation and upgrading of small, scattered, and disorderly wood processing enterprises, driven the concentration of upstream and downstream supporting enterprises, and gradually formed a full industrial chain of raw material bases, man-made board bases, and high-end green home furnishing.

At present, among the 33 wood processing enterprises that have signed contracts to settle in Phase I of the Youjiang sub-park, 6. have been completed and put into operation, including 5. enterprises above designated size.

One flower blooming alone does not make spring, but when a hundred flowers bloom together the garden is full of spring. In the Lingyun County Green High-end Home Furnishing Industrial Park, wood waste and forest-cut materials once discarded by forest farmers are now transformed into high-end environmentally friendly boards through the German Dieffenbacher continuous flat-press production line. In the Tianlin County Forestry Industrial Park, 33 enterprises have already settled in, providing 300 stable jobs for local people and helping 80 village collectives increase annual income by more than RMB 20,000 on average. A number of backbone enterprises, including Baise Fenglin Wood-based Panels, Chunsheng Paper, and Zhengfeng Environmental Technology, have formed a batch of market-competitive brands such as Fenglin, Angel Elephant, and Zhengfeng Environmental, and their products have been widely incorporated into the supply chains of high-end furniture and home furnishing.

In October 2025, the Baise Forestry Industry Association was officially unveiled, marking a new stage of coordinated development and resource integration for the local forestry industry.

In Baise, batches of leading enterprises are arriving one after another, and a forestry industry cluster worth hundreds of billions of yuan is rising strongly.
