Do you know the relationship between PLM and ERP, CRM, and MES systems? 1. The Relationship Between PLM and ERP

ERP solves the question of when, where, and by whom something is done, covering production planning, MRP, purchasing and inventory, sales and distribution, financial management, and more. PDM solves the question of what to do, covering document and drawing management, structure management, change management, project management, process management, and more. PLM provides ERP with material, BOM, and process information, while ERP returns inventory information to PLM.

2. The Relationship Between PLM and CRM Systems

CRM solves the question of what is needed, mainly covering information such as customer orders, quotations, and contracts, and providing PLM with market demand, order configuration, and order project information. At the same time, PLM also reads customer complaints, evaluations, suggestions, and maintenance information from CRM to form conceptual designs and guide detailed design. Of course, CRM also reads information related to product functions, performance, and structure from PLM to answer customer questions and support maintenance.

3. The Relationship Between PLM and MES Systems

MES solves the question of when, where, by whom, and how well something is done. It mainly covers production scheduling, workshop dispatching, order tracking, quality management, kanban management, data collection, and more. PLM passes complete product data, including change information, process routes, SOPs, and documents and drawings, to MES. The various modules inside MES are respectively responsible for receiving and storing different types of product design data and passing work-in-progress information to the PLM system.

The above systems are generally the main associated systems that ordinary enterprises integrate the most around PLM. In addition, PLM systems are also integrated with WMS. PLM provides product information and inventory management information to help WMS better manage warehouse inbound and outbound goods and inventory status. PLM can also be integrated with APS, providing product data and production planning information to help APS formulate more accurate production plans and improve production efficiency and resource utilization.
